Planes of Prophecy

Planes of Prophecy is the 14th EverQuest II expansion. Content and features are primarily designed for level 100-110 players.

Patch notes: https://forums.daybreakgames.com/eq2/index.php?threads/update-notes-tuesday-november-28-2017-planes-of-prophecy.582350/#post-6480084

Notes:
  • Most of this information was compiled in beta testing and from information shared on the beta forums, and may be subject to change in the Live game.
  • This is going to be an abbreviated guide from years past. Some information is locked behind gates that Brenvia and I did not have time to cross in beta due to real life constraints.
  • This is going to be a work in progress for a little while after the expansion releases. We'll update as we find time.

There's an excellent guide on the wiki with details for a lot of the information touched on below and more! Here's the link: http://eq2.wikia.com/wiki/Planes_of_Prophecy_Timeline

Travel to the Plane of Magic (PoM)

1. The starting zone for the expansion is an overland zone called the Plane of Magic (PoM). Any wizard spire should take you directly to the starting island, Scintillating Spires.

2. If you pre-ordered the collector's or premium edition of the expansion, you can /claim a teleporter object that will take you to Scintillating Spires. (Note: Destination does NOT change after completing the Signature.)

3. Once on the Scintillating Spires, be sure to unlock the teleport pad before flying off the island. There are seven teleport pads within PoM that will make travel faster and easier once you unlock them. As a bonus, unlocking the portals completes an achievement which gives a very sweet experience reward as well.

Waypoints for the Teleport Pads:
  • Scintillating Spires /waypoint 1112.52 771.76 -1455.46
  • Khali'Yrzu /waypoint 71.13 579.91 -683.90 231.10
  • Khali'Vahla /waypoint -113.10 574.77 -728.74
  • Pakiat Bluffs /waypoint -840.31 83.28 -162.77
  • The Stratafold /waypoint 811.00 44.00 500.00
  • Zivier's Reach /waypoint -126.56 206.05 743.59
  • Valor's Roost /waypoint -755.82 345.97 1027.44

4. Access to the other Planes is through the Coliseum of Valor (CoV). This zone is locked behind the first two quests of the Adventure Signature Quest Line: Legacy of Power. Once you complete these two quests, you will be able to enter CoV at will. Additionally, all alts on that account will also have access to CoV.

Plane of Magic (PoM)

Teleport Pad System in PoM:

Factions, Merchants & Currency

Factions

Within PoM there are three separate factions, each with their own quest line. You must choose one faction and increase it to progress through the Signature Quest Line and unlock CoV (entrance on Valor's Roost). As you increase one faction, you will take hits to the other two factions.
  • House Vahla - Starter: Shirada at ( -159, 573, -535 )
  • House Yrzu - Starter: Malusia at ( 58, 128, -42 )
  • Pride Pakiat - Starter: Izle Tot at ( -931, 80, -32 )
It does not appear to matter which faction you choose initially. Each quest line rewards armor pieces and unlocks additional items on faction merchants. You will have the option to max out each faction in turn, to complete the Achievement: "Magic Quester" for a title. Once you've completed all three factions and the signature line you'll earn the Achievement: "Destiny in the Planes of Prophecy" for an offhand weapon.

Currency

There are three types of earned currency in PoP:
  • Tears of Ro - Currency earned by completing solo and heroic missions in Planes of Prophecy
  • Greater Tears of Ro - Currency earned by raiding in Planes of Prophecy
  • Planar Quintessence - Currency earned from Public Quests

This currency appears to be used only to purchase items from merchants within the Coliseum of Valor.

Hub Zone: Coliseum of Valor (CoV)

CoV is the hub for access to all dungeon instances - solo, duo, event heroic, heroic and raid - as well as the new PQ's. The zone also contains the mission givers, several merchants and a mender/reforger.

Merchants in CoV

Special merchants near the CoV zone-in sell status items, heroic treasures, furniture, and orange and black adornments for mission and PQ currency.
  • Amarat the Procurer <Status Merchant> (/way 136.16 0.00 106.90)

  • Mohyon <Furniture> (/way 144.12 0.00 104.06)

Armor/Gem Merchants in CoV

The new mission currency will be needed, along with "gems" and armor molds, to purchase armor from special armor merchants in CoV.

Note: We don't yet know if this is special armor or the only way to obtain Fabled armor from heroic and raid zones.
  • Iks Fenn <Polished Gem Devourer> (/way -36.94 0.00 168.06)
  • Jihjen the Refiner <Raw Gem Refiner> (/way -28.95 0.00 169.72)

  • Gorynn, God of Gladiators <T4 Raid Armor> (/way -0.26 2.31 183.18)

Gems for Purchasing Armor

All three mission types (dungeon, daily and weekly) reward unrefined armor gems that can be used to purchase fabled armor or gem containers with a chance for a random treasure.

These gems appear to only drop from missions related to heroic and event heroic zones. The gems for regular dungeon missions are static - meaning if you do X zone's mission, you should always get Y gem. The gems for the daily and weekly missions rotate. You could potentially get two types of gems from the same zone if you completed both the dungeon and daily mission.

Note: We currently do not have enough information to provide charts for the daily and weekly missions.

Purchasing Armor

The gems appear to drop in an unrefined state and must be converted to "Polished" at the Raw Gem Refiner to purchase the Heroic gear. Polished gems must be converted to "Finely Cut" to purchase the T2-T4 Raid gear.

For Heroic armor, the process appears to be:

     1. Purchase two Polished gems for 20 unrefined gems of the same type, plus 500 plat.
     2. Purchase a Heroic armor piece with the appropriate Polished gems, armor mold and 2000 plat for armor other than chest and legs. Chest and legs cost 2500 plat.

Gem "Loot Crates"

The merchant, Iks Fenn, offers an alternative use for Polished Gems.

You can purchase a hollow gem container from him with a Polished gem of the same type. The gem container gives you a random item from its loot table. Loot can be items such as:
  • Fabled heroic armor pieces - 29 resolve, slightly less potency than purchased
  • Planar infusers
  • Familiars
  • Tears of Ro
  • Bushel of harvests - including some rares
  • Draught of Divine Potency or Stamina or Crit Bonus - increases the divine stat by one level

Missions

1. As in previous expansions, there are dungeon and daily missions available with a 2-day expiration. Weekly missions have a 14-day expiration.

2. Mission givers can be found in Coliseum of Valor (CoV). You must unlock CoV by completing the first couple quests in the Legacy of Power Signature quest line before you can access the mission givers and dungeon instances.

3. Missions reward a new currency, Tears of Ro, for solo, duo, event heroic and heroic zones and a random item from a Planar Mission Reward Crate. Heroic and Event Heroic dungeon/daily missions also reward 2 unrefined gems. Raiding weekly missions reward Greater Tears of Ro and a random item from a Weekly Planar Mission Reward Crate.

4. Dungeon Missions
  • Solo - 8 missions, rewards 2 Tears of Ro each
  • Duo - 4 missions, rewards 2 Tears of Ro each
  • Event Heroic - 3 missions, rewards 5 Tears of Ro, 2 unrefined gems each
  • Heroic - 8 missions, rewards 5 Tears of Ro, 2 unrefined gems each
  • Event Challenge - 1 mission, rewards 5 Tears of Ro, 2 unrefined gems

5. Daily Missions
  • Solo - 1 mission, rewards 2 Tears of Ro
  • Duo - 1 mission, rewards 2 Tears of Ro
  • Event Heroic - 1 mission, rewards 5 Tears of Ro, 2 unrefined gems
  • Heroic - 1 mission, rewards 5 Tears of Ro, 2 unrefined gems

6. Weekly Missions
  • Overland Solo - rewards 10 Tears of Ro & weekly reward crate
  • Solo zone - rewards 10 Tears of Ro & weekly reward crate
  • Duo zone - rewards 10 Tears of Ro & weekly reward crate
  • Event Heroic - rewards 25 Tears of Ro, weekly reward crate & 15 unrefined gems
  • Heroic - rewards 25 Tears of Ro, weekly reward crate & 15 unrefined gems
  • Raid - 3 missions (T1-T3) - rewards 50 Greater Tears of Ro & weekly reward crate each

Note: Gem types for weekly missions rotate. You will always receive the reward for the quest you picked up. If you have not completed the weekly before the switch, you can drop that weekly and complete the current one for the new gem type.

Gear Progression

This is a general guideline for the numbers you might expect to see on your armor and jewelry as you progress through the expansion and the level required to equip the gear. These numbers may not be precisely what you see on each piece but should give you the ability to compare options.

Note: The armor potency numbers listed are for the majority of the armor pieces, excluding chest and legs, which have slightly more potency.

It appears all armor in this expansion has Crit Bonus Overcap instead of Crit Bonus. Jewelry, charms, waist, etc. still appear to have crit bonus. Will note if we find otherwise.

Weapons

The Crossbow

With PoP, we are introduced to a new ranged weapon usable by all classes - the crossbow!

Along with the crossbow, we get new ammo - the crossbow bolt. Woodworkers can craft two types of bolts. There are common and mastercrafted versions. The crossbow bolt recipe is also retroactively added to the Bloody Tooth recipe books.
  • Kunark Ascending bolts can be crafted at level 100. The main component for mastercrafted is one (1) shadebark, which creates 500 bolts for a pristine combine.
  • PoP bolts can be crafted at level 102. The main component for mastercrafted is two (2) storm ent heartwood, which creates 200 bolts for a pristine combine.

You can place a stack of bolts directly in your character ammo slot or place multiple stacks in an ammo pouch.

Note: As of the end of beta, we have no idea how you acquire a crossbow if you have not pre-ordered the collector's or premium editions of the expansion. There does not appear to be a crafted recipe for the weapon under either weaponsmith or woodworker.

Soulbound Weapons

In addition to a new weapon type, some weapons - including our Epic 2.0 - can be leveled.

There are two abilities on Beta: Extract Planar Essence, and Planar Weapon Leveling. The Extract ability works similar to salvage, except it only works on weapons, and awards a Planar Weapon Essence. These essences are then "fed" or used up on your leveling weapon, such as the crossbow, by using the Planar Weapon Leveling ability.

The weapon you are leveling must be equipped. There is a purple "Planar Level" description on the weapon that provides the current level (between 1 and 10). You also get a yellow text message in your chat bar giving you the current level and your progress toward the next level.

Each level increase on the weapon will increase the Primary Stats, Potency, Ability Modifier, and Resolve by 5% per level. Currently it appears the first level will take 10 essences, 20 for level 2. So it looks like the formula is 10 essences times the level.

Infusing does not matter if you infuse at level 0 or level 10.

Note: Some or all of this process will most likely be different once the expansion releases!

Crafting

As usual, Niami Denmother of EQ2 Traders Corner has put together a fantastic crafting overview for the expansion. You can find the article here:

Planes of Prophecy Information Clearinghouse

Below are just some very basic notes about a few crafting-related topics. I encourage you to check out the articles on EQ2 Traders or the wiki site for more information.

Recipe Books
  • Essential recipes are for sale on recipe merchants once you hit level 101. They are not visible before then.
  • Advanced books appear to be chest drops.

Harvests
  • Level 101-110 is a new tier of harvested materials and recipes.
  • New resources can only be harvested in Plane of Magic.
  • Level 101-110 recipes use new Celestial fuel.
  • Harvests stack to 900 in your inventory (woo hoo!)

Additional harvest information can be summarized in a quote from Caith:
Quote
The goblin will not be getting any more updates.
The Kunark Ascending houseplant will be updated to offer a reward from the new tier of harvests.
The Artisan's Pack Pony will not be updated until the crafting timeline goes in.
We do not have any plans to update the guild harvesters until later in the expansion cycle.
For the most part, we want players out and experiencing the content in the expansion zones, not cycling through a dozen (or more) alts sending out NPC harvesters, at the very least at the start of the expansion cycle. While harvesting is more difficult at lower level, and should be, there should be plenty of spots where you can avoid the NPC's to harvest. The increase in harvest node spawn-rate should also help with that.

Note: The houseplant gives you a harvest bundle with a bunch of commons and a chance at the rare harvests.

Adornments
  • White adornments are called Planar adornments.
  • There appears to be only one book for white adorns this time around.
  • Not sure where/how we get it (yet).

Orange and black adorns for sale on Istar the Mighty <Adornments> in CoV. Must have specific flags to be able to purchase the adorns.

Tinkering
  • Tinkering recipe books for skill levels 505-550 are on the merchants
  • Recipe books are named: Innovation Tinkering Volume X, where X = 101 to 110
  • Volumes 101 - 109 contain recipes for temporary adorns for +5% Crit Bonus Overcap, 15% Max Health or 25% Potency
  • There are regular (1 hour), extended (4 hour) and maintained (8 hour) versions of the temp adorns
  • There is no indication that the temporary adornments will not stack from multiple slots (will have to test this)
  • Volume 110 contains recipes for the three limited use abilities that can be found on the CoV merchant for coin and status - Mechanized Powerlink, Mechanized Forcelink and Mechanized Painlink

Snacks

Snacks are provisioner crafted "food" that becomes a consumable that allows you to cast a somewhat short-term buff on whomever you have targetted.

The following "Snacks" are listed with the specific component that takes the most, followed by the buff name and effect and duration.
  • Dolma: 10 Storm Stalk, casts Overwhelming Snack which does a Crit Bonus Overcap by 20 for 10 minutes.
  • Tejuino: 10 Nightmare Cichlid, casts Elusive Snack which does an increase to block by 6.3% for 10 minutes.
  • Atole: 10 Rock Fern, casts Resistive Snack which increases Defense, Parry, and Aggression by 2,153.7 for 10 minutes.
  • Fairy Bread: 10 Rock Fern, casts Durable Snack which does a buff that increases base auto-attack multiplier by .40 for 10 minutes. Does not apply to spell weapons.
  • Arrowroot: 10 Storm Stalk, casts Furious Snack which does increase Hate Gain by 30% for 10 minutes.
  • Chebakia: 10 Greatmole Meat, casts Finesse Snack which increases Ministration, Disruption, Focus, Subjugation, and Ordination by 2,153.7 for 10 minutes.
  • Jaffa: 10 Deadly Mushroom, casts Energetic Snack which increases Ranged, Crushing, Slashing, Aim, and Piercing by 2,153.7 for 10 minutes.
  • Khandvi: 10 Greatmole Meat, casts Elusive Snack which increases target's chance to block by 4.2% for 30 minutes.
  • Nanaimo Bar: 10 Storm Stalk, casts Overwhelming Snack which increases Crit Bonus Overcap by 10 for 30 minutes.
  • Ada: 10 Storm Stalk, casts Resistive Snack which increases Defense, Aggression, and Parry by 1,076.8 for 30 minutes.
  • Gua-bao: 10 Deadly Mushroom, casts Durable Snack which increases base auto-attack multiplier by .20 for 30 minutes.
